About Our Practice

What conditions do chiropractors at Johns Creek Chiropractic treat?

We treat back pain, sciatica, neck pain, tech neck, tension headaches, nerve pain and numbness, shoulder, hip, and knee pain, disc bulges and herniations, and posture-related spinal stress. We treat many other conditions, but there are far too many to list — we encourage you to inquire about conditions not listed here. Every care plan starts with advanced diagnostics, including the CORE Score spinal exam, digital X-rays, and posture scans, to identify the underlying cause rather than just treating symptoms.

How long has Johns Creek Chiropractic been in practice?

Dr. Joseph Fanning has served the Johns Creek community since 1998, supporting the wellness journeys of more than 25,000 patients from Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Suwanee, Duluth, Cumming, and Milton.

What makes Johns Creek Chiropractic different from other chiropractors?

We build care plans from objective data, not guesswork. Diagnostics include COREscore nervous system scans (HRV, sEMG, thermal), digital X-rays, posture scans, and 3D foot scans, and treatment options go beyond adjustments to include spinal decompression, shockwave therapy, custom orthotics, on-site classical Pilates, and nutritional support.

Where is Johns Creek Chiropractic located?

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in Georgia?

No. Georgia allows direct access to chiropractic care, so you can schedule an appointment without a physician referral. Some insurance plans have their own referral requirements — we are happy to verify your coverage for you.

New Patients & Pricing

How much does a first chiropractic visit cost at Johns Creek Chiropractic?

Our new patient special is $129 and includes a one-on-one consultation with the doctor, a CORE Score spinal exam, digital X-rays if needed, posture and foot exams, your first chiropractic adjustment, a hydrotherapy session, and a personalized review of findings and recommendations.

What happens at my first visit?

You will meet one-on-one with Dr. Fanning to discuss your health history and goals, then complete a CORE Score spinal exam with digital X-rays if clinically needed. You will receive your first adjustment, a hydrotherapy session, and a clear explanation of the findings with a recommended care plan. Plan for roughly an hour.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you would like us to verify coverage, and any recent imaging or medical records related to your condition. You can save time by completing the new patient form on our website beforehand.

Does insurance cover chiropractic care?

Many major insurance plans cover chiropractic care, and we accept most of them. Coverage varies by plan, so we verify your benefits for you before treatment and explain your options — including transparent self-pay pricing if that works better for your situation. There are no hidden fees.

Chiropractic Care

Is chiropractic care safe?

Chiropractic care is widely recognized as a safe, non-invasive, drug-free approach to musculoskeletal pain when performed by a licensed chiropractor. Dr. Fanning uses diagnostic imaging and nervous system scans before treatment to confirm chiropractic care is appropriate for your condition, and will refer you to another provider if it is not.

Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

Most patients feel relief rather than pain during an adjustment; some experience mild soreness afterward, similar to starting a new exercise, which typically resolves within a day or two. Dr. Fanning takes time to help patients relax and explains each step before adjusting.

How many chiropractic visits will I need?

It depends on your condition, its severity, and how long you have had it. After your exam, Dr. Fanning provides a specific care plan with expected visit frequency and re-evaluation points, so you always know the goal of each phase of care.

What is the CORE Score exam?

The CORE Score is a nervous system assessment combining heart rate variability, surface EMG, and thermal scanning to produce an objective score of how well your nervous system is functioning. We use it at your first visit to establish a baseline and at re-exams to measure progress.

Spinal Decompression

What is spinal decompression therapy?

Spinal decompression is a non-surgical therapy that uses a specialized table to gently stretch the spine, relieving pressure on compressed discs and nerves and allowing oxygen, water, and nutrients to flow back into the discs. We use a Triton decompression table with treatment customized to your condition.

Who is a candidate for spinal decompression?

Patients with herniated or bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, spinal stenosis, chronic low back or neck pain, or continued pain after back surgery are often candidates. An exam and imaging determine whether decompression is appropriate for you.

How long does spinal decompression treatment take?

Individual sessions last 20–30 minutes. A typical course is around 18 sessions over 6–9 weeks, though your plan may differ based on your condition. Many patients report relief within the first few sessions, with improvement building over the course of care.

Is spinal decompression painful?

No — most patients find it comfortable, and some relax enough to doze during sessions. You lie on the table while it applies gentle, computer-controlled stretching; you can stop the session at any time.

Can spinal decompression help me avoid back surgery?

Many patients pursue spinal decompression as a conservative option before considering surgery, and some find sufficient relief to postpone or avoid it. Outcomes vary by individual and condition, which is why we start with diagnostics and give you an honest assessment of whether it is likely to help.

Shockwave Therapy

What is shockwave therapy?

Shockwave therapy (extracorporeal shockwave therapy) uses acoustic pressure waves to stimulate circulation and the body’s natural healing response in injured muscles, tendons, and other soft tissue. It is non-invasive and performed in-office with no anesthesia or downtime.

What conditions can shockwave therapy help with?

It is commonly used for chronic tendon and soft-tissue problems such as plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, shoulder tendinopathy, and other stubborn muscle and joint pain that has not responded to rest or other conservative care. Dr. Fanning will evaluate whether it fits your condition.

How many shockwave sessions are needed?

Most treatment plans involve a short series of weekly sessions, with the exact number depending on your condition and response. Sessions are brief — typically under 15 minutes.

Payment & Insurance

What payment options does Johns Creek Chiropractic accept?

We accept most major insurance plans and offer transparent self-pay pricing. Our team verifies your insurance benefits before treatment begins and helps you choose the payment path that fits — with no hidden fees.

Can I use my HSA or FSA for chiropractic care?

Yes — chiropractic care is a qualified medical expense for most HSA and FSA plans, so you can typically pay with those funds. Check your plan’s specific rules or ask our front desk for help.
